The Saint Mary's College

As you know, Queenstown Secondary School will be hosting 2 countries for the Youth Olympic Games next year. One of the schools that will be participating is The Saint Mary College in Mauritius. Students from that school will be coming down to our school for a short visit. I am here to tell you more about how the school came about and more details about them.
The Saint Mary's college is a college for boys in Mauritius which is well respected for its standard of education.

Saint Mary's College currently has its headquarters in Rose-Hill, and has opened an another college: Saint Mary's Bambous now called Saint Mary's west. The College was officially inaugurated on 20 April 1955 by Lady Scott, wife of the Governor, Sir Robert Scott. Two years later, after a thorough inspection, the Education Office gave full official recognition to St. Mary's College.

The mission of the college originates from the "Projet Educatif Catholique" of the Diocese of Port-Louis, with the specificity of a lasallian school founded by the Christian Brothers. Such a school works towards a global development (intellectual, physical and spiritual) of all the youth admitted with particular attention to those in difficulty within the framework of a healthy school community so that they become responsible citizens living universal human values.

The school also has a variety of co-curricular activities for the students such as astronomy club, environment club and also a solidartary club.
